Topics to be covered: COMPETITION TACTICS UNDER NEW IJF RULES AND INTRODUCTION TO CROSS GRIPPING
Rahdi Ferguson has competed against, trained with and learned from judoka at the highest levels. More importantly, he has a keen eye for understanding and analyzing competitive judo play such that he has been called upon to advise our Olympic athletes on tactics against particular opponents in the run-up to the Rio Olympics. He also understands the unintended consequences of rule changes when players are driven to win.
Competition tactics under the new rules: He will show you how you can win when you don’t have the best technique and are not the most likely to win under normal circumstances. He will outline decisions you can make to have a better outcome in your contest, by showing means of control, how to move and indeed how to “set-up” your opponent for the outcome you desire.
Introduction to gripping tactics: How to gain control and to create throwing opportunities, as well as, how to avoid being thrown. Training drills to learn how to grip and put it into action. Out maneuver opponents that are bigger, heavier, and stronger. The cross-grip sequence to dominate an opponent under the new IJF rules. These tactics are even more critical for BJJ players.
